A model built to remove the trade-off.
In IT consulting you normally choose: top people or a sane price. We rebuilt the economics so you don't have to. This page explains exactly how — including the parts other consultancies prefer not to discuss.
Where your euro goes.
Our consultants earn 50 % of what they invoice, plus a yearly share of company profits. With Finnish employment costs, roughly 70 % of every euro you pay goes directly to the person doing your work.
Our own margin is capped near 10 % EBIT — by design, not by accident. The industry standard ambition is 15–20 %. We keep overheads minimal: no bureaucracy, no management layers, no expensive offices for you to fund.
The result: senior consultants typically 95–120 €/h, depending on how scarce the profile is — the rate follows the work, not who's asking. The market bills 120–160 €/h for people of identical caliber, so our range tops out roughly where theirs begins. The difference isn't quality. It's structure.
We match. We don't just fill seats.
The industry's quiet habit is selling whoever happens to be free that month. We do the opposite. When you describe a need, we match it against 3,000+ senior professionals we can reach — over 500 of them validated in person, by the founders — and propose the best fit we can find, not the one we most need to invoice.
Every single one, in person
Not a CV database, not a recruitment funnel. Aki, Kimmo and Qaiser — with decades of hands-on engineering and delivery between them — have personally validated every professional we propose.
Employee or independent, same standard
Ten-plus years of experience, strong communication, business mindset. You'll always know whether a consultant is a Deviam employee or a network professional — we see no reason to hide it.
Top tier, or we keep looking
If we don't have someone we'd genuinely vouch for, we say so — we won't fill your inbox with "almost there" profiles to look busy. When we offer a candidate, it's because we'd work with them ourselves. Your time is the scarce resource, not CVs.
AI made ‘good enough’ free. Judgment is what's left.
The work that used to justify another pair of hands on the invoice — boilerplate, first drafts, test scaffolding, the straightforward CRUD — is largely automated now. What isn't automated is knowing which generated answer is quietly wrong, what falls over under real load, and which architecture decision costs you two years from now. That judgment was always the only thing we sold. It has just become harder to fake.
Fewer people, but better
If a consultant's value was volume — steady adequate output — AI does that now, and nobody should be paying senior rates for it. What's left to buy is judgment: people who know when the output is wrong before it ships. One of those, with proper tools, covers what used to take a senior with a team feeding them.
Our people have worked this way for years
Every Deviam consultant uses AI tooling daily and has done for a long time — not as a pilot, not as a policy exercise. We pay for the licences and stay out of the way of how professionals choose to work.
The useful question isn't "do you use it"
Everyone says yes. What separates people is knowing what they won't trust it with — and that's a question we can ask, because we meet every professional we propose. A CV can claim AI fluency. It can't demonstrate it.
How to work with us?
We start by listening, properly
Before anything else, a real conversation: not just the skills and stack, but the team, the working style, the kind of person who'll fit. The better we understand what you actually want, the less of your time we waste later.
We go deep, on both sides
We sit down with each shortlisted person and walk through your actual case — testing not just whether they can do it, but whether they genuinely want to. Skills, attitude, mindset, interest in your project: the fit has to hold on every axis before we'd put a name forward.
You confirm the fit yourself
We're confident in our judgment — but the people who'll work together should always meet. This way you verify not only the skills, but the personal chemistry and fit of someone about to join your team.
No lock-in, no leverage games
Our people work inside your team, with your tools or ours. We don't demand long fixed contracts or make it hard to end cooperation — we stay as long as you need us, and not a day by obligation. The long engagements happen because our people deliver and you want to keep them, not because a contract traps you.
If it's not right, we fix it.
If a consultant isn't the right fit, we replace them — fast, and without contract drama. We can promise that calmly because of how rarely it comes up: we validate everyone personally and refuse to force-fit people into the wrong project, so the situation mostly designs itself out before it starts.
The honest commercial logic: our model only works with long engagements. We can run on a capped margin because we bring in people customers don't want to let go — which means our incentive and yours point the same way from day one.
Don't take our word for it.
Every consultancy will tell you they have the best people and make the best partner. Of course they (and we) will — talk is cheap, and you've heard it all before. The only real way to know who actually delivers is to try. So next time you need a professional, give us a shot. Let our people speak for themselves — that's the only pitch that's ever mattered.
